Local Government Association of NSW Annual Conference

The Local Government Association of NSW (a Lantern customer!) and the Shires Association of NSW are the state's peak Local Government organisations. Together they represent the state's 152 general purpose councils as well as special interest councils, such as those supplying water services. The Local Government Association's membership includes several Aboriginal Land Councils. The Associations represent the views of metropolitan and regional councils to other governments as well as promoting the value of Local Government to the public.

The theme for this year's Local Government Association of NSW Annual Conference is 'Community - A Sense of Place'.  It draws on inspiration from the community and the unique sense of place the community gives to the role of Local Government whether as representative, employee, or supporter. Taking its queue from the Financial Sustainability of Local Government Report the conference aims to shape the future of Local Government and ensure that the community's expectations can be translated into affordable, relevant and ultimately sustainable public service.

DAMAP - Digital Asset Management Asia Pacific 2006

Digital Asset Management is evolving rapidly and represents both major opportunities and potential pitfalls for many industries. Simply stated, Digital Asset Management (sometimes referred to as "Media Asset Management" or "Content Management") is the systematic cataloguing and management of digital rich media: text, images, video and audio, so that they can be reused and/or re expressed at a later time.

However, the interacting issues of intellectual property rights, e-commerce, workflow, system management, etc. all combine to create misunderstanding and confusion in the Digital Asset Management world. This conference is the first of its kind in Australia and is designed to explore the current state-of-the-art and future capabilities of Digital Asset Management solutions as well as current users' experiences and the issues critical to industry adoption and utilisation of Digital Asset Management options.

By effectively utilising Digital Asset Management, a company can dramatically improve profits by reducing costs, decreasing time to market, increasing revenue and creating a reliable shared-repository of digital assets. However, understanding all the options, selecting the most appropriate solutions, implementing and managing chosen systems all require up to date knowledge of the rapidly developing digital asset management field.

Over the two days of the conference our speakers will provide a clear understanding of what Digital Asset Management is case studies on how it works benefits to organisation plus closing the conference with a fantastic panel discussion on where Digital Asset Management is heading in the future and what you should do now.

Attracting over 100 delegates for the inaugural DAMAP 2005 conference held in Melbourne, DAMAP 2006 is a powerful platform to gain an understanding of this emerging industry

Open Publish 2006

Open Publish 2006 has evolved to become the leading conference for practitioners in the fields of content management and electronic publishing. As open IT standards proliferate and stabilise, and programming interfaces for web infrastructure grow more common, the technological playing field for publishers is rapidly leveling. At the same time, the escalating complexity facing management and production is relentless.

Open Publish recognises that the next wave of innovation will be driven through creative management and disciplined implementation rather than technology alone. Therefore this event will be focused on topics that help attendees to understand and leverage returns from commonly available technology
